HOW TUITION WORKS
TUITION for grades K - 6. The school board can select one or more public or approved independent schools to pay tuition to, or just allow the parents to choose.
TUITION for grades 7-12. The school board allows parents to select any public or approved independent school of their choice.

- Transportation is not required to be provided to every, or any school, although the district may choose to offer some sort of transportation.
- The tuition a district must pay to a public school is called the “Announced Tuition.”
- The state sets a number for each school called “Allowable Tuition,” and each school decides if they will charge that full amount or a lesser amount.
- The tuition a district must pay to an independent school is called the “State Average Announced Tuition,” this is a number announced every year an average of the K-6 union schools in the state.
